What is ASMR?

ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) is a new term applied to express a perception phenomenon. It is a unique and pleasant feeling occurring in the skull, scalp, back, or other areas of the body, which is stimulated by visual, hearing, touch, smell, or perception.

There are many controversial opinions about the nature and categories of ASMR. Although there are large number of enthusiasts and powerful evidence to prove the existence of this phenomenon, there is little or no scientific explanation or experimental data to support this phenomenon.

The history of ASRM

Before the word ASRM’s birth. There were or have been some online forums, discussion groups and blogs sharing their knowledge, personal experiences or opinions about this kind of sensual experience, like the Society of Sensationalists (Yahoo, 2008), Unnamed Feeling blog created by Andrew MacMuiris on 2010, etc. And they named it like: attention induced head orgasm, attention induced euphoria, attention induced observant euphoria. The term ASMR is create by Jenn Allen in Feb 2010 and Gentle Whispering ASMR is the first YouTube channel who made videos with the word ASMR.

Is ASMR related to Sex?

Although, ASMR can bring you a pleasant and special sensual experience, it has nothing to do with sex or orgasm, and posting sexually suggestive videos or audios in the name of ASMR is disapproving.

As the carrier of ASMR, the role of language cannot be underestimated, especially when a creator is whispering, different languages have different influences on the audiences. For example, Spanish is fast, French is deep, and so on. It has different effects on different audiences.
